Gallery Manager, No.9 Cork Street

We're looking for a Gallery Manager for our No.9 Cork Street gallery space, who will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of No. 9 Cork Street, including the production, financial and administrative management, as well as the coordination of all the events and exhibitions taking place in the space.

What You’ll Do:

No.9 Cork Street, in Mayfair, hosts short-term exhibitions and projects organised by the world’s leading galleries. Our three galleries, viewing rooms and events space provide a flexible, collaborative environment for galleries to connect with London audiences year-round. 

The Gallery Manager is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of No. 9 Cork Street, including the production, financial and administrative management, as well as the coordination of all the events and exhibitions taking place in the space.

The Gallery Manager is also responsible for the growth of No.9 Cork Street, through building relationships with key galleries and selling the different spaces available to reach set revenue targets, whilst ensuring the quality of the year-round programme.

Key Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To:

Gallery Liaison & Sales

  • Cultivate pool of galleries to generate interest and close sales
  • Be the primary point of contact for galleries 
  • Respond to all enquiries and produce bespoke proposals
  • Manage application launch, process and analysis
  • Organise and attend selection committee meetings 
  • Release application results and coordinate subsequent meetings
  • Reach revenue targets for gallery hire, events space hire and additional services sales
  • Liaise with accepted galleries on every aspect of their participation

Exhibition Management 

  • Ensure the smooth running of all exhibitions and projects
  • Produce and circulate information to participating galleries
  • Facilitate communication of guidelines and protocols
  • Assist galleries in their exhibition planning and preparations
  • Manage insurance and security requirements
  • Manage the sale of additional gallery services
  • Deliver quick and efficient solutions for galleries
  • Maintain high standard of service to all galleries and visitors
  • Monitor activity in the space through regular checks and via CCTV
  • Oversee all events including staffing, catering, set up, dismantling and locking up

Building Maintenance 

  • Liaise with contractors on all building work
  • Oversee maintenance of the space, draft contracts and manage suppliers
  • Act as a key point of contact for any emergencies
  • Monitor Health & Safety regulations and ensure all necessary measures are in place
  • Manage cleaning staff

Administration & Finance

  • Keep track of finances across all areas of No.9 Cork Street
  • Monitor annual revenue targets, reporting to Artistic Directors quarterly
  • Manage all invoicing, payments, petty cash and other expenditures
  • Provide quarterly updates on planned exhibitions and events to the landlord
  • Line manage the Operations & Events Coordinator
  • Manage all office and administrative responsibilities 
  • Maintain IT systems and communication networks
  • Build set of written procedures for the running of the space
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement solutions
  • Advise on shipping and customs 

Liaison with Frieze Teams

  • Coordinate year round communication plan with PR team
  • Coordinate inclusion on Frieze website, social media and newsletters with Marketing team
  • Liaise on events schedule and organisation with VIP team
  • Liaise on all invoicing and payments with Finance team 
  • Review gallery sales and programme regularly with Exhibitor team
  • Liaise with HR on all people related activity including recruitment and policies
  • Circulate relevant information to all teams at Frieze

  • Proven ability to multitask and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the contemporary art world and the gallery landscape.

We’d Love If You Also Have These:

  • Proven experience within a related environment such as event production, commercial gallery or art fair. 
  • Experience delivering projects in complex environments with multiple stakeholders and overlapping timelines.
  • Proven track-record in sales.
